Before the dust could even settle on January 6th, the left wing media ran wild with theories about the intention of these Capitol protesters. In fact, they immediately used these assertions to slander all 75 million Trump supporters as “domestic terrorists”.
Some anti-Trump pundits like Meghan McCain even went as far as to say that Trump supporters who went to the protest should be sent to Guantanamo Bay for punishment.
Well, as fate would have it, the media and the entire Democrat party have egg on their face after federal prosecutors are now walking back their assertion that the protesters planned to “capture and assassinate” elected officials.
Here’s the full story from CNN of all places:
Justice Department prosecutors have formally walked back their assertion in a court filing that said Capitol rioters sought to “capture and assassinate elected officials.”
A federal prosecutor in Arizona asked a magistrate judge in a hearing on Friday to strike the line in a recent court filing about defendant Jacob Anthony Chansley, a man who is alleged to have led some in the crowd in the first wave into the Capitol with a bullhorn while carrying a spear and wearing a fur headdress.
The entire line the prosecutors want to omit from their court filing is: “Strong evidence, including Chansley’s own words and actions at the Capitol, supports that the intent of the Capitol rioters was to capture and assassinate elected officials in the United States Government.”
CNN even had to eat crow by posting it on their Twitter feed:

One Twitter user responded perfectly:
“Kind of odd how many things are being walked back. News cycle seems to be an outrageous claim, mass hysteria, then a quiet ‘walk back’ that no one really hears about and then everyone sticks with the original narrative. You guys want to try and fix that?,” ADQ said on Twitter.
Many other conservative Twitter users chimed in when CNN made the damaging admission:
This is from CNN, which tells you how bad you’ve been lied to… There’s no insurrection or riot, just media propaganda to push a narrative.. https://t.co/8y2UN4VxZN
