NBA Legend Calls For Social Media Censorship Of Jon Voight, Other Conservatives

The left’s decidedly un-American crusade to purge social media of all voices who oppose them is gaining momentum in the aftermath of Democrat Joe Biden’s “win” in an election rife with fraud.

The last four years have seen an unprecedented assault on free speech especially when it comes to conservatives and Trump supporters who have been the targets of a crackdown on dissent that borrows heavily from communist China.

Celebrities have been leading the way in the fight to suppress those with who they disagree on politics and NBA legend Kareem Abdul Jabbar has upped the ante with a call to deplatform conservatives including Jon Voight and James Woods, both of whom are outspoken supporters of President Trump.

Jabbar whose birth name was Lew Alcindor before he converted to Islam had a hugely productive 20-year NBA career, winning six championships including three with the high flying “Showtime” era Los Angeles Lakers and Magic Johnson.

The 73-year old’s plea to Big Tech to censor conservatives as well as Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling who has been accused of blaspheming transgenders came in an op-ed for The Hollywood Reporter.

Via Fox News, “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar: Social media companies should increase censorship to combat misinformation”:

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the former Los Angeles Lakers superstar, called on tech companies in a rambling essay to do more to censor celebrities, political figures and others from spreading misinformation.

Abdul-Jabbar, 73, used Rudy Giuliani, Roseanne Barr, Letitia Wright, Jon Voight and J.K. Rowling as examples of why social media companies should do more to combat the spread; pointing to Giuliani’s stance on the 2020 presidential election, Wright’s anti-vax post, Rowling’s views on transgendered people and Barr and Voight’s conservative rants.

“Social media companies have begun slapping warnings on some messages that are false, incite violence or cause harm to society. But this needs to be done with more consistency and vigilance. Studies indicate that when readers see these warnings, they are less likely to read or believe things. However, as another study showed, there can be a backfire effect in which content that isn’t flagged, even when inaccurate, is perceived as true,” he wrote for The Hollywood Reporter, which published the piece Thursday.

He didn’t cite what studies he was referring to.

He specifically singled out Voight, the Academy Award-winning actor who is hated by the Hollywood elite for his righteous videos that support Trump while damning socialists and celebrity degenerates.

According to Abdul Jabbar:

“Jon Voight, once a shining star among actors, recently posted a rambling video calling the political left “Satan” and promoting conspiracies about the election, reducing him from brilliant Oscar winner to cultural dumpster diver.”

Thanks to technology, leftists and especially aging celebs like KAJ now have the power to leverage their social media followings in a dangerous and unprecedented manner that dispatches with any serious discourse over political differences in favor of banishment.

Jason Whitlock of Outkick The Coverage who has emerged as one of America’s most courageous truth-tellers for his opposition to the societal cancer that is the “woke” Twitter cancel culture tore into Abdul Jabbar in his latest epic column.
