On November 2nd, the day before we marched to the polling stations to cast our ballots, longtime California representative Maxine Waters had something else on her mind. She was appalled at the possibility of African Americans thinking differently than she does and attempting to gatekeep those intellectual rebels.
“For those Black young men, who think somehow they can align with Trump – not only are they terminally mistaken, any of them showing their face… I will never forgive them.” Waters said in an interview with Joe Madison on Sirus XM
She claims this ideological difference is “shameful.” But why is this a shameful method of thought? It’s because Maxine Waters believes that being black and being a democrat must go hand-in-hand. She believes the members of her race must share her way of thought.
“It’s imperative for Black voters to uplift former vice president Joe Biden, and vote Democratic as they usually do if Trump is to be ousted from the White House” Rep Waters said according to The Washington Post.
Waters has assigned an indefinite political party to a group of people based on their skin color. Her rhetoric implied that Black people cannot vote for Trump.
This rhetoric bears a striking resemblance to that of Joe Biden earlier this year. In an interview, Biden told Charlamagne Tha God, “Well I tell you what, if you have a problem figuring out whether you’re for me or Trump, then you ain’t black.” on ‘The Breakfast Club’ a radio show co-hosted by Charlamagne.
The real truth is that many Black Americans do not share her ideas in the slightest.
An article published by BBC shows just how much Trump gained with black voters:
The Republican president gained six percentage points among black men, and five percentage points among Hispanic women. It means some voters changed their minds, after either not voting or voting for another candidate in 2016.
Looks like Maxine Waters has a ton of people that she will “never forgive”.
The Washington Post also talks about this rising trend in Black Conservatism. The Post stated that Waters believes those individuals are only thinking of themselves and effectively condemning their community.
But is this true? No. of course it isn’t. One could easily understand the rationale of Black Conservatism simply by observing the policy of the Trump Administration.
Trump has continuously been making major pushes towards the betterment of the black community as a whole throughout his time as president and prior.
From his economic opportunity zones which disproportionately affect minorities and were proven via White House report to lead to job growth as well as an increase in real estate and land value to restoring funding to Historically Black Colleges in the form of $250 million per year.
This President also announced Martin Luther King Jr’s birthplace a National Historic Park in signing ‘The Martin Luther King Junior National Historic Act’ With Alveda King, the niece of the late MLK by his side according to The White House.
This President was the first to act after George Floyd was murdered when he federally expedited the trial of Officer Derek Chauvin. While on the topic of criminal justice, Trump also signed the First Step prison reform Act making an attempt to seriously reduce racially disparate outcomes in our criminal justice system.
The narrative is pushed by Waters that Trump is a white supremacist, yet he donated office space to Jesse Jackson’s civil rights group, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition in 1997 according to the New York Times.
Trump also Historically backed Mr. Jacksons’ presidential run in 1988.
On top of it all, Trump won the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 1986 beside Rosa Parks and Muhamad Ali. The description of why this honor is awarded is as follows;
“The Ellis Island Medals of Honor embody the spirit of America in their celebration of patriotism, tolerance, brotherhood, and diversity. They recognize individuals who have made it their mission to share with those less fortunate their wealth of knowledge, indomitable courage, boundless compassion, unique talents, and selfless generosity; all while maintaining the traditions of their ethnic heritage as they uphold the ideals and spirit of America. As always, NECO remains dedicated to the maintenance and restoration of America’s greatest symbol of its immigrant history, Ellis Island.” according to Snopes
Is Donald Trump a Racist? Is it irrational for Black Americans or any other racial minority to vote for Trump? Hopefully this question has been answered. If not, maybe he can answer it for you.
To quote the President himself:
“Racism is evil. And those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including the KKK, neo-Nazis, white supremacists, and other hate groups that are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans.
We are a nation founded on the truth that all of us are created equal. We are equal in the eyes of our Creator. We are equal under the law. And we are equal under our Constitution. Those who spread violence in the name of bigotry strike at the very core of America.”
